Kelly Rowland Shows Support For Chris Brown After He Was Boo’ed For Winning An American Music Award

Kelly Rowland stunned at the American Music Awards as she gave out the award for Best Male RNB artist, however she isnt trending for what she wore but rather what she said.

Kelly gave out the award for best RNB Male artist and boo’s erupted as she announced that Chris Brown had won in that category.

Chris did not attend the show and according to Variety the artist got a shout-out from Kelly.

“Chris brown is not here tonight, so I’m accepting this award on his behalf,” Rowland said, before responding to some unclear shouts from the audience. “Excuse me, chill out.

But I want to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great music, and I want to tell him thank you for being an incredible performer.

I’ll take this award and bring it to you, I love you! Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.”

For further context, Chris Brown was slated to not only attend the show but perform a tribute for the 40th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

His performance was canceled.

According to sources and a report in Puck, the planned tribute to Michael Jackson was canceled just days before the show, apparently when the optics of Brown, who pleaded guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards, leading a tribute to Jackson, who has been accused of improper relations with children.

Earlier this week, Brown posted a video and message on Instagram saying that the performance, which apparently included Jackson’s hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” “Wanna Be Starting Something” and “Thriller.” A 40 th anniversary reissue of Jackson’s biggest album, “Thriller,” is slated for release later this year.

Brown’s caption reads, “U SERIOUS?,” then he added, “WOULDVE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for reasons unknown.”

According to Puck, the network was not opposed to Brown performing, but the combination of the two was not acceptable — over the objections of show executive producers Jesse Collins and Stephen Hill.

A rep for Dick Clark Productions, which produces the show, told Puck: “ “Live shows change all the time, it’s the nature of this business. Unfortunately, this element of the AMAs didn’t come together as we couldn’t align on the performance, to no fault of Chris Brown.”

Twitter has mixed reactions:

Kelly Rowland can say wtf she wants PERIOD!! If you don’t like him then move tf around but to sit and bash him and his kids 24/7 is miserable goofy bxtch behavior. Get a fxcking life already damn y’all are pathetically bitter 🙄

Kelly isnt the only one speaking out about Chris Browns alleged cancelation, Jermain Dupri dropped a video too.
